Marcus
Marcus is a high school junior, and the youngest member of the Sons and Daughters thus far. To the others, he is something between a little brother and a symbol of youthful potential- the energy and faith he brings to his membership is exactly what some of the older members want to rekindle in themselves, so he is oftentimes as much an inspiration as a student. What brought him to the group is simple. He is a young man who deep down wants to be special, to be liked, to be desired. It’s not all that unusual for a kid to want to be considered attractive, especially when he never had been up to that point in his life.
As is not all that uncommon for kids that age, he’s exploring his own spirituality as well, and still trying to discover what he believes about the world. Marcus is actually the only member of the Sons and Daughters that ‘didn’t’ meet join because of the land he lives on, but rather met through mutual acquaintances in the Wiccan circles in town. When the others met Marcus, it was his youth, potential, drive to believe in something bigger that distinguished him.
When he was brought into the group, he was given an opportunity to be a part of something that might be bigger than anything Marcus has had before. As the youngest person yet in this cult, Marcus is being invited into something very adult and primal. The shaman that guides them tells him this is a kind of chance to prove himself- If Marcus can make these people see him as a peer in this secret group, then it will give him the strength to be a force of personality later in life. What they offer Marcus is a chance to open his mind to the magic in the world, and believe his dreams might have power.
